On January 22nd in the duty division of the Karachaevsky area department of Inner Affairs it was reported about damaging of the bearing supports of electric lines-500 going on Uchkulansky gorge of Karachaevsky area to Republic of Georgia. The damage was revealed in 12 km distance away from Karachaevsk town and was registered by corresponding measuring devices.
In the survey of the place of the incident they found out that unknown persons by means of some self-made explosive had undermined 6 racks of 3 supports electric lines-500 on the total distance about 2 km located in a mountain deserted area. On the place of the incident it was revealed about 10 kg of "plastit" (explosive), electro-detonators, slow action detonators, power elements. Because of the end of the day light time searching actions on the place of the incident were suspended.
On January 23rd searching actions were renewed. All the actions were organized with participation of the FSB department.
Under the instructions of the Minister of Internal Affairs of republic the staff of the Karachaevsky regional department of internal affairs was gathered on alarm; additional duties for carrying out of customs control also were formed. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of republic had undertaken measures on antiterrorist security of especially important objects of life-support. In that direction the coordinated actions with the next regions are organized.
