The Supreme Court of Russian Federation had returned to Cherkessk court the cassation complaint of the Cherkessk municipal electoral committee against the verdict of the town court about cancelling of the date of the mayor’s elections.
In the court they explained that the complaint, according to legislation, should be considered in the supreme cassation instance in relation to the town court, which is the Supreme Court of KCR, instead of the Supreme Court of Russian Federation.
On February 10th Cherkessk municipal elective commission addressed to the Supreme Court of Russian Federation with the cassation complaint the verdict of the town court from February 7th of this year about cancelling of decision of Cherkessk municipal elective commission of about dating of the elections of the mayor of KCR capital to March 12th.
After that, on February 11th in the republican capital an assembly of Cherkessk inhabitants where townspeople supported the new charter of Cherkessk adopted by deputies of the City Council and decided to address for support to the president of Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, passed.
In the reference to the president the town dwellers asked to protect their constitutional rights. They noted that the charter had been passed according to the Federal law "About general principles of local self-management" and all its positions corresponded to the constitution of Russian Federation. The document’s signers supported the new norm of the new town charter according to which deputies of the town legislative assembly must elect the head of Cherkessk from their staff.
Despite of the court’s decision, the elective campaign for Cherkessk mayor proceeds. Candidates on the post of the head of the town had already begun their pre-election campaign; 52 local elective commissions were also formed, as premises for the polling districts were prepared.
